I'm thinking its the best I can get for the money I have.I'm running on a really tight budget and I want to get it ASAP...I'm about 2 weeks cold turkey without cs thanks to this computer problem

Opinion's? Suggestion's?

I was looking at the bartons and it seems like less speed for more money? A FSB difference that I didnt notice or something?

the barton core has 512k L2 cache as opposed to 256 in the tbreds - yeah, a 2600+ tbred and a 2800+ barton run at the same speed, but the extra L2 cache boosts performance bigtime...

Just my reccomendation however...I did a lot a LOT of research before I just bought my 2800+ and I decided it was the best value/performance out there in a AMD Socket A chip...

I was just talking to a friend and he advised me to get the 2600+ barton core. Say's it should be faster than the tbred 2700+, plus 13 cheaper!

AFTER GETTING MY P4 ID MUCH RATHER HAVE A INTEL, THERE IS NO HEATING PROBLEMS WITH A INTEL. BUT AMD STILL HAS GOOD PROC FOR THE MONEY.

I dont feel like wasting my new $100 mobo...or I would at least consider an intel. Probably too expensive for me anyway...

That's the same boat I was in - I order Dell's at work - and recently got a 2.4 and a 2.8 w/ HT and the 800 FSB -VERY fast chips. Intel has really got it going on right now - Although the Athlon64 is giving them a run for the money, ESPECIALLY since it's only running at 2 - 2.2 GHz.

Then again, I've been die hard AMD way back since my 850 K7 Athlon!

Just make sure the 2600 you get IS a barton - call to order and have them VERIFY over phone and give you a guarantee that is what you are getting - for like 30 more I'd get the 2800+ but if you're limited on funds...get the most you can get :)

I hear that the barton core is limited to some motherboards...Any idea if the K7N2 Delta-L is compatable?

Yup - w/ a bios update - that's the board I'm running on.

I need the BIOS update to run it?

Yes...unless your board was newer than mine and had a more updated bios - i would still flash just to be safe...
