Ok...who's done it? What's it look like?!

I also have a question...I have an old DVD player that I am in the process of modding into a working PC. What I want to find is an LCD panel that I can program so that it will display scrolling messages, etc. Does anyone know of a place that I could get such a thing? Think of like on the front of a car MP3 player, where it scrolls the title of the song etc. I would like it to be programmable so that I can do boot up messages and things like that. Money is no object (until my wife finds out!). Also, I want to find 3 bright blue LED's...

sweet! Thanks Onji and roXet! I hadn't thought about radio shack, to be honest...will go there tonight or this weekend (more than likely, we'll be going to the mall this weekend...perfect timing!).
Onji, those LCD's rock...I just have to find the one that is going to fit in the amount of space available.

Thanks guys!

Found this site that actually MAKES LCD panels for PCs and such...cool place. This is the one I am looking at right now:

This is the amount of space I am working with. I just got the poweer button wired up and it's working well. Will go to Radio Shack this weekend to get some blue LED's and will install them next. w00t!

Tech I'm looking at getting a LCD screen for my computer too, Matrix Orbital looks like it's in my pricerange even. I wasn't aware that I could buy directly from them, but it will save me some cashola. The first few places I saw LCD's were like $150, but at crazypc I saw them for $85. The MX222 Aluminum blue is the one I'm looking at buying.

LOL, I can't find the MX222 on their site only the 230 series and they are $99 with a black face, not the aluminum face. Just thought that was kinda funny, lmao.

Ok, I got the power button and led wired up...
I decided that there were plenty of buttons on the right side and 3 LED's. The top switch and led are what USED to be the open cd tray button and the CD Rom LED. I hard wired them from the inside of the CD Rom and connected the wire (which I borrowed from a seldom used phone cord...gonna have to replace that) to the switch on the front of the DVD player. I tested it once (it fried one CD Rom...stuupid power connections!). I got another CD ROM and it worked that time (thank goodness for spares!). This is where I am at now:

Ex...that one looks nice man! I didn't know you could buy direct from them either...that's why I searched for their page and was delighted when I saw the prices! Due to space limitations, I have to get one without a face plate, but it'll still look nice (I hope!!!)
