I am a Volkswagen and Jaguar auto Tech. at a dealer in Jackson Ms.
Let me warn you of something first off. The can data bus runs through the stock radio of the car, therefore if you change out the radio the dealer will NOT and WONT be able to hook the diagnostic tester to the car if in fact there is a problem with it.
Going from first hand experience we have a LOT of problems with check engine lights....ON ALL VW'S 99 and up. They used to be a german car but now they are built in Mexico...you do the math.
It's still a good car none the less and you may never have a problem wiht it and I hope you don't. Just letting you know what we deal with typically.
