The weight of 1,152 pounds made it the largest fish ever taken by rod and reel in the state, eclipsing the 1,018.5-pound blue marlin caught by Linda Koerner of New Orleans in 1977. It does not qualify for an International Game Fish Association world record. The IGFA has 80-pound and 130-pound line classes, nothing for 100-pound. The 80-pound record is 974 pounds; the 130-pound record is 1,170.
