what kind of card do you have right now? Ive got a Gf2 MX400 and it isnt top of the line or OMG FAST but it works.. my motto is dont waste money on things that are gonna outdate fast.. aka FAST AS HECK puter parts.. If your current card struggles with frames for god sake replace it.. but if its just Gfxcard(big wang)envy, wait, get a good card when that one can't handle the games anymore and you will be happy with yourself for saving the money.

I heard a while back that the voodoo3's were nice. almost as good as the ATI Rage128. hmm can't remember when that was though...

what do you have now?
why do you think you need a new one?
what are the other specs on your computer? (doesn't do much good to put a ATI9700pro or a gf4ti4600 in a puter with a celeron 333.)
what games od you want to be able to play? (if it's just CS, then don't get a high end card. if you wanna play gta3, ut2k3, etc. get a high end card)

DEAR GOD NO VOODOO! GO GF4 MX PCI IF YOU WANT PCI MAN. GAMES DONT EVEN SUPPORT THE VOODOO ANYMORE AND THE DRIVERS DONT WORK WELL WITH XP OR 2000 BECAUSE 3DFX DIED IN EARLY 2002. As for ati they are a great buy for the money and work very well also.

ATI blows nVidia out of the water as far as image quality is concerned, and with the 9700, they are blowing nVidia away performance wise too...I bought my 8500 128 meg a week after the price went from $350 to $199 (basically after the 9700 came out) and it's been the best purchase I've ever made - 1 step behind technology, still a GREAT card and dirt cheap for the image quality and performance...if they keep thier stuff as good as this, I'll be ATI forever baby! w00t!

Oh and to answer the question, find a ATI 7000 or 7500 64MB card for PCI, or if you HAVE to have nVidicrap (j/k) Nividia, get a GF4MX 440 64MB PCI...

well my first gaming comp was a 466 celery running at 533 w/ a 8 mb ATI Rage...w00t...it was followd by the 850 t-bird...since then I went to a 1.4 t-bird to a XP 1700+ (only 2 weeks, sold it to onecrazymofo) to a 1.7 P4 to a 2000+ and recently got a new mobo and 2400+ free, so w00t!

Also remember I used to be an AVID and mind you AVID mac user....not for gaming (had the 850 T-Bird for that) but for music...I miss my 400 G3...I wanna G4 but can't afford one....I wanna build a stuio around it and a 23" Studio Display.
