need some help with directx

ok... me got some problems with directx... but hell if i know what the problem is.. it just dont work

No problems found.
DirectDraw test results: All tests were successful.
Direct3D test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x887602eb (error code)

im not even sure if directx is my problem, but anytime i try to play any game except counterstrike i get some form of error... so im not really that worried about it except at 8 o'clock in da mornin when noone is on to play CS

like when i try and start warcraft3 it says.... was unable to initialize directx. please ensure your have directX 8.1 or newer installed and that ur display drivers are current

i have directX 8.2
and where do i check about current display drivers?

DirectX 9 is out now

Display drivers are your video card drivers -- make sure you're running the current drivers for that card.

OMG H4X

so i installed directX 9 and updated my drivers from nvidia and then.... waah... restarted my comp and my display was set at 800x600 and 4 bit color and could not be changed... system restore time

so i guess ill just be happy with playin CS
