Slidell man arrested for beating nephew with pole

St. Tammany Parish deputies have charged a Slidell man with attempted murder after he allegedly tried to beat his nephew with a metal pole.
The incident occurred shortly after 1:00 Friday morning in the 37000 block of Brownsvillage Road.
According to deputies, 44-year-old Larry Cooper was arrested after deputies were called to a home on Brownsvillage Road.
Witnesses say Cooper and his 25-year-old nephew had been fighting. At some the argument escalated and Cooper beat his nephew unconscious with a pole and then ran off.
The nephew, who's from Ohio, suffered a fractured skull and cheekbone.
Deputies still don't know what the fight was about.
