OMG I just discovered this mod for HL thats being worked on. I had no freakin idea this even existed. This mod looks great. Its not one of those quickly done ones either, this thing looks very professional. It also looks likes its going to be a damn blast. This is going to be released OCT 31st Holloween Night! If this peaks enough interest i'll get a server up and running. I think this will be a great change of pace and best of all its FREE

What is this game about? Well here is an excert from their page. I hope everyone wants to play!


Game summary

Multiplayer-only Half-life mod where one team plays marines and the other plays aliens. The humans must keep their cool and work together to assault an alien-infested spacecraft or colony. Marines vs. marines and aliens vs. aliens scenarios are also supported.

"First-person strategy" with a real resource model and consequences for actions. Both sides are genuinely different and together they accommodate different play styles:


Marines::Fighting skill is less important, strategy and communication take its place. Playing as a marine will be a tense experience with methodical planning and strategy, interrupted with action.

Aliens::Playing as an alien will be an intense action experience, rewarding reflexes and alien heroics. Communication and coordination don't require typing.


Accessible, fast, mouse-driven interface: no keys beyond those used in Half-life needed.

Simple to learn and play, it is hard-core action/strategy for a mainstream audience.

Innovative social dynamics lead to memorable games.

Looks like the server is already a hit, how did they get the game???
It still appears unable to download.
I would STRONGLY suggest everone to go read the manual, as this appears somewhat complicated, but it should be great team-play.

Yup tyler is right. Ever since i been working at ACS my co-working has been following this game.. about a year now. And its finally out! but its g4y and won't let me install..says i need version 1.0.3+ and i have 1.0.5 for cs retail..HEEELLPPP

Yes max.. open up CSTRIKE go to custom mods and activate it.. then you can play.. somethings freaky when you go through there link the first time! but this way works fine..

UPDATE FOR SERVER ADMINS - PLEASE READ!!!

If you are experiencing high CPU utilization (which leads to a player perception of 'lag'), try dropping down your player slot count by 2 (so from 14 to 12, for example). This will hold people over until there is a server-side patch which will be available in the very near future to both Linux and Win32 server ops. We know about the issue and have a fix determined that just needs to be tested and rolled out - please try to bear with us. NS is inherently much more processing-intensive than most HL mods due to complexity of the resource system, non-hit scan weapons, and other factors. We will get you running faster ASAP.

BRANDON:

When I go to install NS it gives me an error saying I can install it on HL version 1.1.1.0 or CS Retail version 1.3 and I would need to upgrade to either of those.

The thing is, I have HL 1.1.1.0. Says so right in the corner when I start it up.

Anyone got any ideas? I downloaded the file from FilePlanet, if that matters.


Here's how i got around the problem;

When going through all the steps where you have to press next, you evuntally come upon a menu where it asks where to install the files. If you only have CS retail, the files still automatically go to C:/Sierra/Half Life. To fix this, just go through and change it so it goes to the CS folder instead of Half life

Ok if your are installing onto a CS Retail version you have to point it to your cs directory under the sierra folder off the main. Once you do that then you have to load up cs and go in and activate the mod. Also I have had to do that every time and it won't let me load it from the icon that it created on my desktop. It's a cool game but, one thing that sucks is if one side get's a head of the other then it can linger for awhile if the monster's for example don't elvolve and cling to the ceiling just hideing. Other than that it's a cool game.

I tried it.......seems too damn complicated and the maps are freaking HUGE!! It sure is pretty though...GREAT GRAPHICS! I'll try it again cause we were playing with only 4 people. It might be more fun with 10 or more. I still like CS because its fast paced and very straight forward.

oh you guys have done a terrible thing! I am extremmly hooked on this game i installed it yesterday and whith the fine post's above was able to get it runnin on my Cs retail version perfect.I must have played it from 8am till about 9pm when i had to stop to watch soppranos.i only played the marine side and some of the maps took us hours to finish the play was so good.i just wish any one would have been on our server last night.And you guys are right the commander job is pretty hard.i did it for about a hour and cordinating the action was hard.Also i saw what you guys were talking about lag wise i tryed to play on a large server of 14-20 guys and it did lag alot bu twhen i whent to a server of 10-12 it was great.Thanks for showing me something i have really injoyed but now i got to find more hours in a day,lol took monday off to play more arrr what have you started.
