Hey guys my boss gave me a project. I have to instruct my coworkers on how to use a new electronic health record. And so I have to create videos of common cases for them to watch. So I would appreciate any help you can give me on recording my computer screen while I narrate. I've never done this so I'm a complete novis. I just started looking at programs to do this. Free programs are a necessity since I'm not getting money to do this. Yet.

Thanks,
D.J.

hey Shadow, have you looked at FRAPS? It was designed to record video game footage, but may fit the bill for what you are looking for??

Looked at snagit so far and one by Microsoft. The recording isn't the problem its the editing afterward. I need to be able to draw arrows so that I don't get the looks of confusion. I know my boss has no clue as to how much work this will take. But if I can't edit it to include all the elements I want I will just have to do what I can with what I have. Projects like this for me end up going up the chain of command so I want to make sure it comes out at least halfway decent. I'm probably only going to do a 10 min clip for doing a preop assessment to start off with.

And thanks tug I'll take a look at it. I will probably be doing it on my gaming machine anyway. LOL

Find a copy of Camtasia (http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.html). It's exactly made for that.
