What up bros?!?!
Well, after a (too long) hiatus from gaming, I'm building a new rig, and gonna hop back on.

What's everyone playing these days? I know I'll be playing some source, but wondering if there are any new games I should be getting too?

The Trend seems to be Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike Source, and Battlefield 2 Bad Company. I also started playing flatout 2 with some other folks in steam. Welcome back. :)

Wazzup Jayson, glad to here your building a new rig. When I do game, "Which isn't that often it seems" its either L4D2, COD-MW2, or CS:S.

So, for L4D and Bf Bad Company what kind of graphics power would I need? I'm not exactly building a "gaming" rig, just a workstation that will handle casual gaming.

Right now, I'm looking at doing a AMD Phenom II X4, 8GB RAM, OCZ Vertex2 120GB SSD, WD 1TB, and a Radeon 5670. At this point, I think I'd be more wise to put that money into the SSD than a higher end graphics card, b/c I know how much I'd be playing games in reality...

Anyway, it looks like that 5670 is a heck of a card for $80 - seems to bench w/ a Nvidia 9800GT (or pretty close) which was what was in my last gaming rig that I sold to a buddy that needed a PC for his kid that was getting into audio stuff, and also wanted to game some.

Right now, I'm on a crapola Gateway I got really cheap that sporting a core i3, and I'm using the on CPU graphics, so I get like 20fps if I try to play even source :-) This machine will make a nice little upgrade to the Pentium D 805 that's in the PC downstairs in the living room (which sounds like a vacuum cleaner when all the fans kick up, which happens just loading an intense web page it seems).

Anyway - should have all the stuff in a couple of weeks, so I'll at least be on the Source server a few times a week.

...and if I do (and that's a big if right now) wind up splurging a little on a better Video card - what do you y'all think in the ~$200 range - GTX460 vs. Radeon 6850?
