We are looking at setting up an actual FTP server here for remote back ups of customer data. Just local companies that have accounts with us. We had a guy pitch the idea to these businesses and I would say 75% of responses said they would do online back ups if they could talk to a local guy.

So long story short is, I was wondering who is doing this, and what software y'all would recommend?

Thanks guys. It will be a Windows based server. Server 2008 prolly.

Microsoft Data Protection Manager

Just don't setup a typical ftp server if you go that route, setup up a sftp which is more secure.

I dunno how popular it is, as it was in place when I started back at ACS, but we use Gene6 FTP Server, and I actually like it a lot: http://www.g6ftpserver.com/
