View Full Version : Got Stock?

What is up with this country? Everytime Obama gets on TV and talks about spending more money, the stocks go further and further down.

Does no one else get the fact that this country is built on credit and if banks are not lending, the country is going to crash?

It's not home foreclosures or medical insurance, it's lines of credit. Homes will be re purchased and home values will settle back out. Free clinics will pick up those without medical insurance. Without lines of credit, people will continue to lose jobs, lose medical insurance, lose money, and lose their minds.

Business's use lines of credit to make payroll, to expand, to survive. Even companies that do well might need loans in these times.

The government just doesn't get it. None of them!

Geitner said on cspan in front of congress that they are fully aware of what the carbon credit tax will do to energy companies. They are aware that by issuing a carbon credit tax, energy companies will then leverage increased cost of taxes against the consumer. The consumers will then pay more at the pump and home. Geitner's response was that it was the only way to force energy companies to go green!!!!!!! AT THIS TIME IN THE ECONOMY?!?!?!

All these people need to be lined up and kicked in the teeth! They are trying to predict the economy for the next 4-6 years and use those numbers to say that they will cut the budget in half by 2012 but they can't predict what the market will do tomorrow!!!!

Is it just me? Is Obama still eating lucky charms, sh!tting rainbows and riding unicorns in the eyes of Americans? Is the working class American that blind, stupid or lazy to not see what is going on?

*Steps down* :soapbox

Ditto Toby. I'm at a loss for words. I do know that my retirement is severely damaged (enough that I consider it almost starting over at 40). But they consider this just market ups and downs. Staggering to say the least.

You're talking about people who don't HAVE to worry about retirement because they get a stipend for the rest of their LIFE. Do you have that option? No. Do I? No. We're allowing people that don't have the worries that we have dictate not only our present, but our future as well. Representative Democracy, my ass. If you want to represent the people that you were elected to represent...live a week in their shoes to see what life is like on their level instead of staying in one of your 5 houses with "personal assistants" and other crap that "NORMAL" people only see in the movies.

with "personal assistants"

They were talking about the "Stimulus" package and how they only had one day to read it before they had to vote on it. Some were complaining that they didn't had time and a couple of democrats said "You have plenty of staff people to read the bill for you and direct you on how to vote"

WTF! You mean the people we elect are even being told how to vote by their staff of 20 year olds who are trying to understand something as complicated as a bill that most seasoned laywers can't comprehind? A senator walks into their office and a 21 year old assistant says "yeah, I think it's a good idea to stand behind this bill, you will need the opposition to vote for a bill you are sponsoring next week"

I'm sort of preoccupied with the pain that I have now involving the stocks. I will eventually get around to the pain of the crushing deficit later when my salary is sucked away by the devastating taxes need to service it.

As with any aspect of an economy that is booming, the demand ran out. The demand for the number of houses built last year was way off. Her in Helena, MT anyone that could swing a hammer and put an enclosed trailer on credit became a home builder. G.C.'s were making 60k+ per house. FTW? I remember building houses with my uncle and 40K was a good profit. As much as the American public are sheep to the rainbow pooper, they were sheep to the CEO's of the last 10yrs.

Vehicles costing 60k+?
Houses at record highs?
Credit given to anyone at sub-prime rates?

If you "hand" it out people will take it. Even people that actually work but are to stupid to realize that they cannot pay another $400.00 added unto their $1200 house payment when their loan hits that mark. Along with $15000 a year in child care. <-That is what my wife and I pay. Just to go to work to pay our taxes.

A little off topic but a good read.

Don't even get me started here... I won't see dollar one from ANY of these 'Stimulas' deal's... But I can already tell you it will cost me thousands in higher taxes, lost investment value, lost real estate values, lost farm income. Cash is now king in my home, I've fired the lawn service company, I will clean and treat my own pool, we're eating out less, and won't be spending a bundle on any vacations soon... why? Because I'm keeping LESS of MY money... more is going to people who didn't earn it... So I have less to invest and spend... Those Monkey's in Washington just don't get it... The truly sad part is Republicans went right on into this with the Liberals... GWB was ZERO fiscal help.... Like I said don't get me started..

Ok...read through the reviews of "Term Limits" and tell me how similar things are:
http://www.amazon.com/Term-Limits-Vince-Flynn/product-reviews/0671023187

Vince Flynn is one of my favorite authors, and I'm not trying to detract from the discussion here (even though it is slightly off topic). Read the reviews...or, better yet, read the book.
