Ok this is weird thing to post about, but this thing is bad ass:

Okay, that.... is awesome!

I worked in the pine woods around DeRidder, La stacking timber during the summers. With someone cutting the trees and us low-end guys (like me) stacking the pieces into piles (that would get picked up with a skidder). This guy is doing the job about 10 times faster than we could do it.

Very cool stuff. Don't know why, but I just want one of those things.

These Machines do much less damage to the forest than more conventional logging, since they leave the major part of the brush where the tree feel, instead of sending in skiders to drag whole trees out, then cut them up at a central location. Plus they allow you to pic and chose trees more carefully. That is if your goal is to preserve the forest, and not clear cut.

Great Piece of equipment for forestry and timber management.

Those things are pretty cool, but the ones that do real timber are insane to watch. I saw it on the Discovery channel a while ago. It's amazing how it takes trees that are 100ft tall and does that.
