Is this a good monitor?

http://www.yourdigitalelectronics.com/product_info.php?products_id=5799

I dont know enough about the specs to know for sure. Obviously its for gaming. The max rez means nothign to me because my rig cant support the stress form high rez anyway. I'm more concerned with the clarity and the lag.

Feel free to post if you know of somethign better in the same price range.

Looks like a good monitor Scott (although I'm not in the know when it comes to gaming LCD's) Samsung makes some of the best LCD panels in the business though.

One thing you mentioned, I wanted to touch on was that you said you wouldn't be gaming at the Max resolution - now this bothers some people more than others (it drives me INSANE) - for the picture to be clean on an LCD, you HAVE to run it at it's native resolution, otherwise multiple pixels turn into one and your screen goes fuzzy...varying degrees depending on how much lower the resolution you are putting into it is than the native.

Just keep that in mind.

good site for LCD reviews when looking at gaming.

also, the samsung and Dell ultrasharp monitors are about the best you can get.

This guy gave the Samsung 226bw a good review.. and didn't speak real highly of my Dell E228FP...

However.. I love the Dell 22 I have.. it looks good to me... Keep in mind though, any 22 in monitor you get is going to reqiure you run at 1680 x 1050 to look right.

After looking at that review again... I do have the Dell E228WFP not the E228FP... so their may be a difference in the 2 models compared.

my first lcd was a 19" samsung, then i got the dell 24". With them side by side you can tell that black isn't black on the samsung, its kind of washed out. And the viewing angles on the dell are superior to the samsung. If you view the samsung at any angle other than exactly straight on, it sort of fades out.
Its a little more, but its so much better. So get the dell dude, you wont be disappointed.

You can also find them new on ebay, thats how i got mine:

I bought $1000 guitar 3 years ago and it was a Christmas present AND signed by Dimebag.

This is a glorified TV. I'm not now nor have I ever been an audo/videophile. I could give a rats ass if "black isn't exactly black". Hell, I don't even play with sound unless Im using my mic and THEN I turn the game sound pretty much all the way down.

I couldn't tell you what zone has what music or anything much past some basic combat sounds. It's just not important to me.

I just want a lil bigger screen that isn't 3 feet deep like my CRTs.

Scott your funny, you have to remember who your talking too. Most guys here are crazy about stats for computer stuff so we ARE being reasonable by suggesting the Dell. Like Onji said you won't buy a new monitor in a long while so you might as well get a good one.

Samsung has good monitors and I think they make Dells monitors. You know your budget, so get what you posted. But be aware of what Yella said about native resolutions with LCD's.
