Have you taken a look at HP's Blackbird 02 (http://h20435.www2.hp.com/#)? I really like the design of it.

Dell never does that.. they don't want you to see just how badly they threw the components in there. Wires strung everywhere, cheap heat syncs, Proprietary hardware that you cant get anywhere else except from dell... Oh did I mention dell sucks too???

The do have some ~3K versions of the blackbird with dual 8800s. Of course, this HP was designed by the owners of Voodoo computers (bought up by HP). I think some of Dell XPS systems look pretty good, but I would never pay that kind of premium (for the Blackbird system either). DIY is the way to go for high-end computers (even for first time computer builders).

I did pick up one of the low-end Dells (521 with 3ghz P4) for my son. I added a 6600GT and it's been on almost 24/7 for the last year. I've had no problems with it, so I don't think all the Dells are crap.

I do like the grill on some of those XPSs though.

Well, I know not all of them are bad.. just the
"Great deal" ones that my friends have brought to me to get fixed.. I showed them just how
good of a deal they got....

After a couple of those.. your opinon changes on the Quality of their products.

Dell is trying to borrow some of the pinache they picked up when they bought out Alienware.

Yes.....Alienware is still their "high end" customs. The XPS units aren't bad, and you have to give it to Dell....$40 for a 3 year warranty on a $2,500 machine is chump change.
