There pretty lucky with that. I remember when I threw a grenade at boot camp, we were behind a concrete barricade, and we still had hot shrapnel come back and hit us. So they are lucky to not have been hit by the shrapnel coming off the grenade from that close.

If he is, then they need to teach him how to NOT detonate it before reaching his destination. :)

About the only thing that saved that nub was the small hill down to the water. That made it roll down into the water kept all the shrapnel from coming at them.

I got to throw 2 live ones this summer at camp and they are heavy! Much heavier then I would have thought and you cant throw it like a baseball at all. His first mistake was taking the pin out with his mouth but when the spoon popped off thats when he knew he was in trouble!

At camp, we had a major leage pitcher in our platoon and they said he threw it farther then they had seen outta anyone. It almost left the range.
