My wife wants a laptop, I want her to have one to keep her off the BF2 machine. But if I get one I want to be able to take it on trips and hopfully game instead of being bored to death in the hotels, SO

Does anyone have any good gaming rig vendor recommendations for where to get a system with these specs for less than the price of a car?, I'm leaning toward Core2 Duo 7700, Nvidia 8800 Go, 2GB DDR2, 150 GB 7200 RPM HD, DVD, 17" display

Gaming laptop IS an oxymoron for sure!!! The laptop looks good except fot the 15" monitor, but beggers can't always be choosers, thanks Cap:)

David seeing as you could be flush with investment capital in the near future, perhaps you could use a high quality "hunting" chair for beaver season, slightly used but still in excellant condition, approx $2,700 obo!!!

Oopps, I stand corrected, I was looking at the dimensions Cap.

David, the colostomy bag is a freebee, it might be slightly used however, unwilling to verify it's actual condition at this time!!!!

Some people have had bad luck with Cyberpower (Mercy comes to mind) but I've bought 2 rigs from them now and absolutely no problems at all.

The 3rd one only has a 5400 rpm hard drive. That slower hard drive will make a difference if you are gaming. Try to make sure you find a unit with a 7200 rpm sata drive. You could always swap out the hard drive in the 3rd unit with a 7200 rpm drive.

I have a gaming laptop, it was nice when i got it back in 05, i ended up buying it from dell for the simple fact that i don't like to work on laptops and i wasn't buying an alienware. I looked at a few dells recently, thought about gettin a newer one and giving my current one to my parents or something, i have a 17 inch screen on it, and that doesn't work so well for packing it around offshore, much rather have a smaller laptop. I ran some through dells website, for a decked out gaming rig i had it around 1800 or so with a 15 inch screen.

Heres the short of it:

My price was about 1800, but i added a few things in, like TV tuner card, heat pad with fans for desktop, a sleeve for packing it around in, and a wireless mouse that maches the laptop shell.

That's made me laugh a little, since Dell owns Alienware. (not in '05, but staring in '06)

Yeah Drax, that Ruby Red case is awesome, puts ALL other vendors to shame, and Connie likes it. Guess which way I will probably be lead ? :)

Hey, who said you laptop can't have a little bling? Too bad they dont' make it in chrome case....

I know thats the case now, but when i was buying, the deal didn't go through yet. And plus with alienware back then, you payed an extra grand just for the case it came in

I agree Drax, alienware is over priced just for the name

Alienware has SLI in a laptop. I don't think its that overprised considering the cost of higher end video cards.

You do pay for the name and case but you also pay for the ability to add in the options that they provide.
