Windows Vista

I just installed Windows Vista on my extra machine. Its not that bad of a machine even though the processor is a little week.

Vista Requirements:
1 GHz processor
1 GB of system memory
Windows Aero capable graphics card
128 MB of graphics memory
40 GB hard disk that has 15 GB of free hard disck space
DVD drive


When I read the part about the system memory, I thought Microsoft was kidding but then again. Just take a look at this screenshot and decide for yourself. Keep in mind, nothing else is running at this time and I have 1.5 GB of ram on the pc.

Rgr that.. curious to see how it works for you, cause the maximum pc reviews weren't so good. They especially mentioned two biggies. DVD rip/burn software and usb device problems, along with a few other driver compatability issues. Keep us posted.

Its a little different and will take some time to get used to. There is no Start >> Run but there is a Start >> Search that works about the same. I saw a lot more command line functions built into Vista.

Its very purdy and has direct X 10 but not sure about performance. It comes with a host of built in applications and a new mail program to replace Outlook Express. Comes with a built in Windows firewall and Windows Defender but they removed the antivirus software. Control Panel is a little confusing but it will just take to find where everything is located now.

Yeah...it is a beast to learn. Performance has been fairly good. The games or apps that I "have" been able to install have had no problem running in Vista. Drive support sux big time right now though.

Seriously though, keep us updated... Especially in regards to how it reacts with BF2..

I know PwC is testing it with the apps we use at work, Ill keep an eye open for anything interesting.
