Ok...

This is probably one of the more moving photo sequences I've ever seen...it's not a happy set of pictures. It's photos of the children of Chernobyl...you can imagine some of the stuff in there.

It's not pretty.

It is sad that all those children became ill, disfigured, or died. It was at the hands of a lie that this happened. Humans can be so stupid at times. It is sad.

I have turned into such a soft-arse since becoming a Dad. I just wanted to hug the little do0d with the brain issue, or the kid with the in-operable tumor. They should not have had to go through this. I literally got teary eyed at parts.

this is really deep. and to think, there is a nuclear facility here in louisiana down near st. francisville.
to hell with the nuclear age. yes it brought us all kinds of possibilities, but look at the problems it has brung. humans are the prices that are to be paid for progress.

The nuclear plant is in Waterford, near Hahnville. While Chernobyl was/is a shame, nuclear technology is not unlike most others. Misused or let run amok, it can cause horrible problems.

Yes, Chernobyl was set up and ran by people not competent to do so. They just did not have the level of schooling/knowledge needed to actually pull it off. Plus it was during a time when asking for help and sharing technology was not an option for them. It was the desire and greed of a few that led to that.

.....On a side note, didn't we almost have a situation like this in our country?

While they would have been similar, I don't think the root causes were the same for the two accidents.
