Yeah you read right, the next battlefield will be set in the future, and get this. It comes out this year! (if its not delayed) The April PCGAMER is supposed to have a big writeup on it.

same thing i heard probably wont be out till oct. i seen alot on it on the bf2 forums saying they have a hard time with the units as they dont what there mech's to look to much like mech warrior etc but still have a unique feel. also read a post about how some did a search and ea/dice has taken the names for bf 2 threw BF9 for web site address so they wont have to buy it down the road with some guy thinking ahead and grabbing the dommain etc. and sure enought they noticed the guy that has the web sites also had the BF 2142 nailled down that was there first give away on it.
