Source dont work

I jsut bougth hl2 and source, installed, and updated throu steam, when i click to play it, it it sais preparing to launch (game) and then that goes away, and nothing happens, any ideas?

I actually had a similar thing happen with CS 1.6 when I installed it. I had to not use the desktop icon but actually access it through the steam panel itself the first time.

Just leave it at the preparing to launch screen, I think I remember having the same thing happen to me. Really it's downloading more crap so just leave it for a while and give it a chance to download everything. Not sure how long it will take but it may be several hours if I remember correctly.

Actually my first day it took my comp a few hours to "update" everything also X. sLingy can remember me b****ing about it for the whole day. I left work to go home like 5 times that day.

the preparing to launch scrreen goes off then i have the cursor, and the hourglass for about 3seconds, then the hourglass goes away, and it just sits there.

I'm pretty sure that same thing happened to me as well CWB. Leave it for a while and see what happens. I would also do as Dirge suggests and check out the Vavle forums.

i am going to uninstall steam, cs, source, and hl2, then reinstall.
