SERVER PORTS

I have recently tried to join games in progress wehre othere people are playing i get the ip address.. get in and i am allll alone on the server... how do i find out what port is being used.. i had been told that maybe they have different servers on different ports..does this make sense??

most of the time, its the default port. But sometimes the server admin chooses to use a different one. Whoever is reading you the IP will have to tell you the correct port :(
