best universal messenger ?

allright im tiered of running 3 messengers at the same time and i know there are unversal applications around .
are there any good free ones ,which ones are good ?
any idea?

Ive been using this messenger for the last week or so, I actually like this better than trillian simply because it uses one window with tabs for all of the different people youre chatting with. The only thing I dont like about it is the fact that the buddy list does not minimize to the system tray...which sux for a clean desktop nut like myself :)...or if it does, I just havent found the option yet

i use gaim too and it works pretty good. u can go to tools-> preferences-> pluggins to make it go to your system tray

I heard the universal ones have many bugs and don't function very well. Maybe they improved them since though.

I use gaim... have for only a week or so. The only problem however are windows will pop up during CS...not good at all

.gaim Absolutely my favorite. If you're getting popups, you need to get the imbedded advertisers name off your system. RegSeeker, Ad-Aware, SpyBot Search & Destroy...combo works for me. I also use System Mechanic, but that I had to buy.

i don t have popup probs with gaim .it actually works really well ,but i have been having troubles with sending files like pictures.anybody got the same problem?

Sorry, not add stuff. I just need to turn it off when I play CS, somebody starts a conversation with me and it minimizes my game window.
