I just heard on the radio that all cell phone numbers will be released to the telmarketing companies as of January 1st, 2005. That means they are going to start bugging you on your dime no matter where you are at.

You can have your number put on a "Do not call list" but it has to be done by December 15th, 2004. If you want to be put on this list call 1-888-382-1222 on the cell phone that you want to put on the list and follow the instructions given. You may also go to www.donotcall.gov and register up to three numbers at a time.

Just a heads up to all you guys and gals out there.

You should have checked your contract to see that they can't release your number to any parties without your consent. If you have a reputable service (like cingular) it will be in your agreement. Sign up any way guys it won't hurt.

This information is incorrect just so you guys know. I asked the FCC about this (I know people :) ) and they said this:

There is a cellphone directory service being considered by the cell phone industry, however, in order to have your number appear in that directory listing you will have to opt-in. In other words, your number will not automatically be entered in the directory. It is a service that the consumer, himself, must request. This directory service is not associated with the FCC in any way.

As far as the National Do Not Call Registry, yes, you may contact the FTC and have your cellphone number registered on that list. Their number is 888-382-1222 or www.donotcall.gov
