Here is my first attemp at modding a case. I'm not done yet, I still have some small parts that will get some yellow paint on them tomorrow, I hope. The fan shroud was green, but green didn't go with the case so it got painted red - I'm working on something to "replace" the Dell on it.

For the sides, where the Dell disks were, I'm thinking about doing the LA MERC logo on a piece of either aluminum or stainless - not sure yet. The logo part I'm 90% sure of though.

Any comments, good and bad will be accepted with little repercussion. lol

It's kinda hard (for me) to give thoughts when the product isn't finished. If you get some kind of LAMERC logo on it, it will probably jump out. Everything else looks fine.

My opinion doesn't go far in stuff like this, but I think looks really great! Nice work!

I like it! I think that red color looks really good. But if u want to kick it up a notch, i would recomend putting a blow hole on top "if ones not thare" and possibly doing some more cutting on the side panels. :xmas7

Well, I have made an adventure to Best Buy and have aquired two 80 mm fan covers for $1.99 each but I'm having trouble finding the red led fans I want. I am planing on adding two fans to the non-motherboard side of the case, since the plastic attaches to the metal inside of the case. Putting the blow hole in the top would be impossible since that the power supply "butts" up to the DVD and CD Roms. I'm working on the side logos as soon as I get my Dremel and my drill, which are currently in my shop, at my house, in South Carolina. :stick

dude, this gives me a glimpse of hope, i want to mod my dell.
question: i see you took the big dell circle off the side, is it possible to cut all off that out, and put a circular window in its place?

Sure, if you don't mind looking at metal - the metal case that the plastic attaches to doesn't give you a lot to work with. I'm just going to replace the disks with something else to keep from having to mode the metal of the case and try to relocate everything.

**edit: Model paint does not do worth a crap. Fusion is the best paint for the plastic (LaTech was right, for once. lol) **

Noxious, if you want to do this, I have found that it is possible to do so on the non-motherboard side of the case. I cut two fan holes in that side of my case and used some longer bolts to attach the fans and fan covers (since I had to go through the plastic, the 3/16 inch gap between the plastic and the metal case).

I got the case reassembled last night. I will work on getting the "guts" assembled tonight and hopefully, if my roommate will let me borrow his monitor, I can get it booted and installed. I still have to do something with the MERC logo disks but I'm holding out on those right now - I want them donw right and not rushed so I am looking to have it professionally done if I can find someone who doesn't want my first born to do it. (now if they want the second born, aka Dennis the Menace, we might talk. j/k)
