You're going to need AdminMod or AMX to give privlages to people to gain access to rcon.

Rcon is built into Cstrike it's simple commands that you gain access to via setting up a rcon password. The simplest way to controll a server via rcon is HLSW.

As for the router if your trying to run a server from your house you will need to forward what ever port you assign you server normaly default to 27015 on your router to machine ip that is hosting server.

UDP/TCP 1200
UDP/TCP 27000 to 27015
UDP/TCP 27030 to 27039

Those are ports used for CS.

I can't help much with the CS server, but I can help you configure the router. Shoot me a PM with your number if you need help and I can give you a call this week.

SnAkEbItE
November 23rd, 2004, 01:17 PM
That's a linksys router and you have to go through the web controll pannel and goto the advanced tab, there is a option there for forwarding there is where you point the port you wish to open to the pc where your running the server via it's IP.

As for the mods, you have to install metamod make sure you edit your gamlib file. Then you have to tell it to load up amx or what ever your running in the ini file.

DO I have to do anything with my firewall built in my router or no?if so what do I do?

npor
November 26th, 2004, 01:00 PM
If you disable your router firewall, you won't need to forward the ports. If you keep it enabled (I cant turn mine off on my Netgear), you need to forward those ports.

Dutch,

Any 192.168.X.X number is a subnet (meaning, that's the IP of the computer on the LOCAL side of your Router. You will have to give people the router's IP address for people to be able to play.

ok heres my router ip address 24.223.193.190 I type it in 24.223.193.190:27015 but it said my server was not responding but I still have to forward my ports so would my ip address for my server would be 24.223.193.190:27015?

[sG] Dutchman
November 27th, 2004, 11:18 AM
I found the routers IP,but how do I forward the
UDP/TCP 1200
UDP/TCP 27000 to 27015
UDP/TCP 27030 to 27039

Not sure how to do this or where to enter it!

LA_MERC_M@lACHi
November 27th, 2004, 11:42 AM
In your router config screen, look for port forwarding.

You will enter in the ports and then the specify the protocol and the specify the server's internal IP address.

So basically it would look like this:

Ext Port Protocol IP Address
1200 to 1200 TCP UDP 192.168.1.101
27000 to 27015 TCP UDP 192.168.1.101
27030 to 27039 TCP UDP 192.168.1.101

You need to verify which protocols need to be enabled for each port range you open. Don't need to open more than you have to.

[sG] Dutchman
November 27th, 2004, 02:01 PM
it still is the same ip 192.168.1.100:27015 see if you guys can connect

npor
November 27th, 2004, 02:28 PM
For my router, its under your settings.

If your local ip was 192.168, then go to IE or Mozilla and type this in the browser

192.168.0.1 and when it asks for username/password use admin/password.

November 28th, 2004, 08:24 AM
grrr I forwarded the port again then people still can't join and for the ip what ip do I use????? router or local???? help......oh and do I go on the computer with the router or go to my other computer with the server on it to forward the ports?

LA_MERC_M@lACHi
November 28th, 2004, 09:24 AM
For people to connect to your server, you need to tell us the external IP address. The one that the ISP assigns to the WAN port of your router. An IP address that starts out 192.168.x.x cannot be seen on the internet, those are your private IP addresses that your router assigns to your computers on the network and will do us no good. It does not matter which computer you use to manage the router. Have you "enabled" the ports that you forwarded? Give us a screen shot of your port forwarding screen.

Please try to search the website of the company that makes the program. Almost every free program/mod has a support forum with very helpful information. Try searching for the information there first. Take your time to understand the information before posting here. This thread is 3 pages long so far but most of it could have been dealt with on the first page. I'm sure most people do not mind helping but try to help yourself first. You've posted right at 24 times in this thread alone. Everyone has provided very useful information and the same information multiple times. Please read their post very carefully before asking for the information again.

I'm not that smart, I've just been through it a few times. You should always work with one step at a time.

1st - Get a default server up and running. The link I posted earlier should help you with the ports issue.
2nd - Make sure people are able to join it from outside of your local lan
3rd - Add metamod and make sure the server still starts and runs fine and people are still able to join
4th - Add in additional mods (adminmod, amx mod, etc..)

You need to find out before you make any more post, there seems to be no server located at that address/port. Find out what the ip is and get one of your friends on aim to try to join it. Get someone to help you one on one and it will save you tons of time and post.
