I don't know if any of y'all have heard, but Sun has made Solaris a freely downloadable OS!
I haven't messed with Solaris since Version 8, but decided to download it and play a little bit.
Apparently, instead of just being stuck with CDE for a desktop environment, Solaris 10 includes the "Java Desktop" which is based off of Gnome. I think Sun is simply trying to make Solaris more competative as a Desktop OS vs. Linux.
