so, those of you going with the retail box (which I would perfer to do myself)
you're going to wait till the end of Nov. (23rd I think is the release date set for retail) before you play CS:Source? That's about 6 and a half weeks from now. That's the only reason I would consider purchasing HL2 through steam right now, I would really like to start playing CS:Source.

I am sure just like 1.6 they will have a d/l of substantial size just like Toby got for us, so everytime you reinstall it will be just the updates, like you will have to do anyway

i would suggest a cpu and video card upgrade (if those are possible) before you will be able to play most new gen. games
shouldnt cost you a a bundle....

Well I have a the ATI voucher, but hopefully I can get the discs because with 56k and having to download 3 discs, I think, aint a good idea.

I tried to play CS:Source on our Source server and I was by myself in the middle of the night and still had a 450 ping when I was standing still. So I can't play that game for sure. I imagine it's gonna be the some thing for HL2 so I might not even get it. Not sure yet.

Hell I only have 87% of the predownload for HL2 so far, and that's about 15 to 20 hours of downloading.

Went through steam, could not wait. Don't need a CD anyway, or a box that I end up throwing away in a few weeks wny way. They take up unneccesary space. Plus why do you care if you have a CD, almsot everything I do now is mounted image any way. The only thinkg I use CD's for now is burn a music CD or burn a backup data CD. Broadband is awesome. with it you have no need for CD's and you damn sure don't need boxes, hats , and crap.

Steam actually has it where if something goes wrong with Steam you can play HL2 offline.
