Hey kiddies! Long time no see!

Anyways, cutting to the chase, I'm gettin an new drive pretty soon and I'm not really worried about size or space, but instead quality...

So, what should I get???

Check the poll!

Thanks!

I've always had good luck w/ Maxtor, followed by WD, and the least amount of luck w/ Seagate - also, Seagates, always seem to be lower performing - with WD being the fastest, and Maxtor being a good combination of performance and staying power. Basically, they are all good drives, and all have a warranty, so I'd probably get the one that offered the most storage for the best price, and just back up often (as I do anyway).

I would get a WD Raptor drive...10000rpm and a 5 year warranty!

Theyre all equally good in my eyes. Just make sure you pay attention to the warranties, buffer, seek time ect.

WD is my vote though, mainly because I get them for better prices than the other two.

hey max,

I have the best of luck with Maxtor

WD used to be crap!!!!!
I qualify that remark by stating I have bought 2 WD's from bestbuy (yes the rebates get me). One for my tivo and one for my media pc.

That being said, I think quality has come around to the same level for all of the major vendors, so I would shop on price.
