I found a new tweak for ATI users! This one is even approved by Carmack!
It supposedly improves performance of Doom 3 on ATI cards by 40%!!!
NVidia users will lose performance with this tweak however...
I'm going to give this a shot tonight when I get home!

I'm on an ATI 9600PRO, AthlonXP 2500+, 512MB PC hoping I can play Doom.
Will try the tweak out.

Cajun, you will be able to play it just fine. I have a P4 3ghz, 256mb ram, gf4ti4600 and it plays pretty dang good at medium setting on 800x600. although the load time between levels is roughly 3 minutes (due to not enough RAM). You should be able to go either high setting at 800x600 or medium setting at 1024x768

I agree with CO, you'll be able to play just fine with pretty darn good graphics, altho sometimes i wish the graphics were like original doom so i wouldnt get as scared when crap jumped out at me, hehehe...

I've got a Athlon XP 2500 with 1GB ram and a 9600XT 256MB and I can run Doom3 very well. At 1024x768 (I think, may be 1280x1024) on the "high quality" setting.

I say I can run it pretty well, I havn't been able to play it much at night because it gives me nightmares. =(

see, i want to get the whole creepyness factor, so i play it at night in the dark with the music up... which is why im making someone else play it with me so that i dont freak out, i already cant go down the stairs cuz of one of you talking about something jumping out and scaring the bejezuz outta ya... now whenever i see stairs i close one of my eyes and back as far away from the computer as possible so it wont scare me too bad, lol...

i just got home and tried it, took a min, but it worked

a lot of people were noticing only 18% increases, not the 40% advertised, just an fyi
