EverQuest Platinum?

Just bought this game. I played EQ when it 1st came out, and it was not bad. Anyway the wife and I wanted to start a new RPG and I just broke down and got EQ. EQ platinum is the latest version (so I was told) and it has all the expantion packs with it. My question is does anyone else play? Or anyone that has played give lauren and myself some tips? I know EQ2 is coming out soon, but it was a good price. Anyway lemmie know asap because I wanna start this game, but don't wanna be lost starting right off. Thanks!
