The Google Toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com/) will stop popups from webpages.

if you are getting random pop-ups to your desktop, try these:
Ad-Aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/)

Spybot: Search and Destroy (http://www.download.com/3000-8022-10122137.html)

i used the spy bot search and destroy one and it worked great. you can always go to C.net central and look for soft ware downloads you can see wich ones are free and wich ones arn't.Alot of them are free for the first 30 days so i just bounce around between products to see what i like. but be ware some of the programs have where they tell you whats wrong or what viruses you have etc but then you go to click on the fix option and little window pops-up saying this part only works in the retail version when you buy them Etc.

I would put my money on ad aware. It has worked wonders on my comp and they have a free download that you can update as well.

I have the google toolbar, along w/ running Norton Corp AV, and Adaware and Spybot, and never get one single sollitary pop up...

but then again, I have no hotmail account, so perhaps there is something coded in that page by none other than M$ that somehow gets around the google toolbar.

I actually use a program called hijackthis and bazooka. They work just fine. I had the same problem with popups... they suck
