problem with dvd burner

i have a NEC 8x dvd burner and when i go to burn a cd in Nero, it doesnt detect the dvd burner..what can i do to get that fixed?

I would also try to use dvd decrypter and dvd shrinker to make one.
that has worked great for me and my new Sony.

I'd throw nero in the trash, try using alcohol
