DOOM3 Summer Release

Activision and id Software have made it official, DOOM3 is set to be released this summer for some head to head fun with Half-Life 2. No specific details were given.

big news guys


Well we just got back from the HL2 show and there are a few things to note:

- Half-Life 2 multiplayer is Counter-Strike on the Source engine and will be available at the same time as when Half-Life 2 ships. Counter-Strike gameplay doesn't seem to have changed much, if at all. Graphics of course, are much improved.

- Half-Life 1 is also ported over to the Source engine and will be available at the same time as when Half-Life 2 ships.

- During the presentation, Gabe Newell reiterated that Half-Life 2 is shipping this summer, although no specific date was given.

- Team Fortress 2 was not mentioned at all.

We have also gotten some footage of Counter-Strike running on the Source engine that will be available on later this evening.

and holy crap!!! HL2 and the new CS look incredible. so much more realistic it's scary. I loved the splashes in the water that the bullets made. so much attention to detail...

Valve plainly said that its not CS 2. So not sure if there will be a CS 2 and weither or not it will be a HL mod. The Counter-Strike they did show was something Valve themselves did and will be the multiplayer version of HL2 like Deathmatch was the multiplayer version of HL1

I must say that the new CS looked good, but I personally thought the detail level wasn't quite on par with HL2. Maybe it is a work in progress, but I was blown away by the attention to detail in the environment with HL2. I am scared about what it will take to run these games half-way decent. Oh well, back to running into my teammates Huey's with my Mig. *Born to be wiiiiiillllll-d*
