MU Steam down

Last night, all of us here at Marquette University experienced a network failure for about an hour, (obviously due to hax). We were able to get back online once the network was "fixed" :stick but for some reason no one's steam works, we are unable to obtain the master server list, nor are we able to connect to any server through steam at all. That means, Benny_B.mu, Apocolypse.mu, agony.mu, and myself (.saint.) will be unable to pwn all you suckas for awhile. Hopefully we will be back in force by the end of the day or this weekend, who knows. Just letting you guys know where you're favorite college posse is... HAX!

lol...talk to the system admin. They may have limited something or turnd off whatever ports are used to connect to games. If so, you guys are screwed.

goto steampowered.com forums and ask for some help in the support forum. I'm 99% sure there is a simple solution of deleting 1 file and restarting your PC. it is under your personal directory in steam, I can't remember the name of the file off the top of my head, but if you search that forum (mainly the sticky's they have there) you should find the situation, or post about it and they will help you.
I had to do mine when I had problems with my cable. if you want, go to that forum and do a search for post from captainobvious (I think that's how it's spelled there) and you will see the thread where they list the name and location of the file.

I went through and checked all 20 some pages of "fixes" to not being able to see servers but none of them worked. I talked to our help desk and they said that the admins prolly disabled the ports we play the game on because of bandwith problems our school has been having. Im wondering if there is a way to switch the ports steam uses to connect maybe...?

hybrid, after dealing with your brief stint as a 80's dj, i would think we would have a closer bond then that...

very true latech, i bow to thee. and you were also right about us being screwed for the rest of the semester :violin . we are currently planning a special ops mission to break into ITS and open up the port, then save the hostages. its risky but its either that or a month without cs...

Exactly...have them set up so that the proper ports open up at 7pm (whenever everyone has gone home) and close again at 6am! That would be awesome!

ah, but you forget that i am but a poor college student. All of my funds are directed towards pizza and booze.... plus these jesuit priests are scarier then the look. They may look short fat and slow, but if you get them mad youll see theyre quick on their feet and deadly with a rosary. Plus, the admin is a women, and they dont know anything... oops, did i say that out loud? jk...

Then show her how much ftp and downloads take up.

ENOUGH ALREADY! I'm barely holding on here people :( I haven't been able to play on MERC for some time now...looks like it won't be until I get home from school.

OK, so check it... we only have this week and next week before we are out of school... and seeing as we dont need the internet that bad, we might go to drastic measures to get back on playing CS. Plan is to do some port tunneling, (use port 80 that is used for http to connect to another server and then redirects the connection to wherever the actually destination is), a lot of you guys on here are smart so if you guys know anything about this kinds thing, lemme know. Otherwise, hopefully see you guys back online next week. FOR REAL YO!
