Steam isnt working for me...

When i try to log onto the steam server it says Unable to conect to the steam server. Could be internet problems or steam has a problem. For further information please visit steampowered.com. went there, nothing was on it.. anyone else having problems?

I was able to get in. Stay for about 3 minutes and left but I got in none the less.

went to steampowered.com and if im having problems i must open these ports

The following ports must be "open":
UDP 1200
UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive
TCP 27030 to 27039 inclusive

How do i open a port? doh
